Citizenship - Answers and Information
Dual Citizenship

Dual Citizenship

Dual citizenship is when a person is a legal citizen of 2 countries.  There are several ways in which a person could obtain dual citizenship.  They include:

- Being a citizen of a country by birth, meaning they were born in that country.

- Being a citizen of a country through one or more parent.  If a parent is a citizen of a particular country, all children born to them will automatically become residents of that country when they are born.

- Going through a naturalization process to become a citizen of a country that you were not born to and none of your parents were citizens of at the time of your birth.
